In-home tech help · Stillwater, Oklahoma
Techie Grandkid
The grandkid who’s actually good with this stuff.
Patient, in-person help with phones, computers, Wi-Fi, and TVs for older adults in Stillwater. I come to you, get it working, and show you how, with no rushing and no fancy words. $80 a visit.

What I can help with
Phone giving you fits? Wi-Fi down? TV won’t behave?
Phones & tablets
iPhone, iPad, Android. Texting, photos, FaceTime, the “storage full” warning, apps that moved, ringers that stopped ringing.
Computers & email
Mac or Windows. Printing, passwords, backups, and the big one: “Is this email real?”
Wi-Fi
Dead spots, new routers, and getting every device back on after the internet company changed something.
TVs & streaming
The three-remotes problem. Netflix, YouTube TV, the antenna, the sound bar. One remote if we can manage it.
Smart home
Smart lights, video doorbells, thermostats, Alexa. Set up so they help instead of nag.
Patient lessons
Same question ten times is fine. I’ll write the steps down in big print so you have them after I leave.
No question is too small. I’ll never make you feel silly.
How a visit works
Four steps, and you never leave the house
Call or text
Tell me what’s acting up. If it’s a two-minute fix, I’ll try to talk you through it on the phone for free.
I come to you
Your kitchen table, your recliner, your Wi-Fi. I bring the cables and the patience.
We fix it, then I show you how
You do it with your own hands so it sticks. Big-print notes on request.
You pay when we’re done
Cash, check, or card. You get a receipt, and so does your family if they’re the ones paying.
Pricing
Simple, same as the flyer
$80 a visit first hour included
More time is $40 per half hour. Need a part? I’ll grab it for a $30 trip charge plus whatever the part costs.
No contracts, no memberships, no upselling. Most visits are done inside the hour, and the rest of the hour is usually coffee and stories.
Good to know
- Cash, check, or card. Receipts every time.
- Family out of town can book and pay for you.
- I’m a Stillwater neighbor and an OSU grad.
- I’ll treat you the way I’d want folks treating my own grandparents.
Download the flyer (PDF) to stick on the fridge or hand to a friend.
Talks & classes
Fraud prevention for seniors, in plain language
Older adults report more money lost to scams than any other age group, and today’s scams come with cloned voices and fake video. I show a room exactly how these work and what to do about it, without scaring anyone off their phone.
Don’t Get Got
Scam and fraud prevention for seniors. 30 to 45 minutes. The three moves every scam uses, the grandkid-in-trouble call, gift cards, voice cloning, and a family safe word you can set up tonight. For residents, their families, and staff.
Get More From Your Apple Watch
Hands-on class, 60 minutes. Live demo on the big screen with a large-print take-home packet. Built because my clients asked for it. iPhone version available too.
What a Techie Grandkid Does
15-minute intro for residents and staff. Who I am, what I fix, what a visit looks like. Pairs with a sign-up sheet for one-on-one help afterward.
The first talk for any community in Stillwater is free. Repeat sessions and talks in the Oklahoma City and Tulsa areas are by arrangement, with a W9 and invoice provided. If you think your town could use its own Techie Grandkid, I’d like to hear from you too.
For senior living communities and care partners
How I work with your residents
On-site help afternoons
A recurring afternoon at your community. Residents sign up with their name, room, and what’s giving them trouble. Send me the list the day before and I show up prepared. Residents pay me directly, per visit. Your community pays nothing.
Where I work
Common areas by default: the pub, the dining room, the activity room. Resident rooms only for TV and Wi-Fi problems, with staff aware.
Referrals for folks still at home
For home care and hospice partners, I schedule visits for when a caregiver or family member is present.
What I don’t do
Memory care. It isn’t the right fit for this kind of help, and I’d rather say so up front than let anyone down.
Paperwork
Techie Grandkid operates under Shimmer Labs LLC, an Oklahoma company. W9 and business documentation are available on request. Tell me what your community requires and I’ll get it to you.

About Logan
Hi, I’m Logan Shimmer
I grew up in Stillwater, graduated from OSU’s College of Engineering in 2009, spent about two decades in California tech, and came home. My mom is a teacher, which is probably why I can’t explain something once and walk away.
Techie Grandkid started in May 2026 when I was volunteering at Elite Repeat and kept getting handed somebody’s phone. It has grown entirely by word of mouth since, one kitchen table at a time.
I also run Shimmer Labs, an AI consultancy for small businesses here in town, teach AI classes through OSU and Meridian Technology Center, and was selected for the 2026 Google Data Center Community AI Fellowship. The scam prevention talks come from that side of my work: I know how these tools are being used, so I can show you exactly what to watch for.
A promise: I will never call you out of the blue asking for passwords or money. If someone claiming to be me does, hang up and call the number on this page.
Common questions
Things people ask before they call
Do you make house calls?
Yes. That is the whole idea. I come to your kitchen table, your recliner, or the common room at your community. You never have to unplug anything and carry it to a store.
What area do you serve?
House visits are in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Talks and classes can travel to the Oklahoma City and Tulsa areas by arrangement.
How much does a visit cost?
Eighty dollars a visit, with the first hour included. More time is forty dollars per half hour. If you need a part, there is a thirty dollar trip charge plus what the part costs. No contracts, no memberships, no upselling.
Can you help over the phone or on a video call?
Quick questions, yes, by phone, and I will not charge you for a two-minute answer. Anything bigger works far better in person. Video calls are hard on everyone for this kind of thing, so I do not offer them.
Can my kids in another state book you for me?
Yes, and it happens a lot. A son or daughter calls, we set a time, and I send the receipt to whoever paid. Cash, check, or card.
Do you work with senior living communities?
Yes. I give fraud prevention talks and run on-site help afternoons where residents sign up for one-on-one time. Residents pay per visit. The community does not pay anything.
Is Techie Grandkid a real business?
Yes. Techie Grandkid operates under Shimmer Labs LLC, an Oklahoma company in Stillwater. Business documentation and a W9 are available to communities and facilities on request.
How do I know a call is really from you?
I will never call you out of the blue asking for passwords, account numbers, gift cards, or money. If someone claiming to be me does, hang up and call the number on this page.
